Social Welfare & Community Development
This Department coordinates and promotes social development programmes and policies to improve the welfare of people and communities in the Service.
The department represents the MMDAs and the regional planning units on issues pertaining to social and community development.
It plans, initiates and coordinates community-based projects, day care centres and services for the rehabilitation of the physically challenged.
LIST OF SOCIAL SERVICES AVAILABLE IN THE DISTRICT:
1. Implementation of Livelihood Empowerment Against Poverty (LEAP) Programme.
2. Registration of indigents onto NHIS.
3. Registration and Implementation of PWD activities.
4. Provision of hospital welfare services.
5. Justice Administration/Probation Services.
6. Child and Family Welfare Services.
7. Implementation of HIV/AIDS activities.
8. Extension services and home management.
10. Provision of skills training and alternative livelihoods.
12. Community sensitisation and mobilization.
13. Registration/Monitoring of Day Care Centres.
14. Registration/Monitoring of NGOS/CBOs.
15. Monitor school feeding programme.
