Communal work is a gathering for mutually accomplishing a task or work to ascertain community development which is part of our social obligation. In April, 2023, the women in Afreseni camp embarked on a communal labor to tidy up their environment. Madam Gloria ‘a wife of a popular priest called Nana Kwadwo’ refused to show up without a valid reason. The community members confronted the defaulter but she was unable to give a good explanation for her absence. As a result, the women in the community also said they will never partake in any communal labor activity in the community organized by the chiefs and the committee members. On 18th May, 2023, the Chiefs and the committee members in Afreseni camp lodged a complaint to the Environmental Health and Sanitation office and the defaulter was summoned through a notice to the office but all proved futile since the defaulter refused to show up. Non-compliance notice was served in a week’s time to summon her to the office for a round table discussion for an amicable settlement yet she refused to appear in the Environmental Health office. A court summon was served to her to appear before the District Court of Ahafo Ano South West District, Mankranso, on 24th May, 2023 and upon prosecution, she was proved guilty and fined Ghc900.00p or serve nine (9) months in jail.
