The Ghana Statistical Service organizes a two-day training workshop on administrative data compilation for Ahafo Ano South West staff.

The Ghana Statistical Service (GSS) in collaboration with Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development (MLGRD), National Development Planning Commission (NDPC), and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) organized a two-day training workshop on administrative data compilation for the staff of Ahafo Ano South West district on the 3rd and 4th April, 2023. The main purpose of the training was to equip officers in compiling accurate and reliable data. This is because most MMDAs are plagued with unavailability of data and inconsistencies in their data. Hence, the urgent need for the training to better enhance their skills in data management. Participants were taken through the role data play in Medium Term Development Plan (MTDP); Annual Progress Report preparation, submission and use and Key observations and challenges in the report. It was noted that data is integral to the development of each chapter of the MTDP. Data remains essential for planning, monitoring and evaluation and effective implementation of programmes and projects. Also, Participants were taken through how the administrative data should be compiled, the role of each actor in compiling the data, the responsibilities of the district statistician and challenges to expect. Participants were divided into groups and given the data collection template to practice, after which each group is made to present on their indicators and the gaps identified. Finally, participants were taken through the role of Metadata in data compilation, linking the data collection template to the metadata and SDGs Budgeting. In conclusion, the training was successful and participants were grateful to be part of the training. The training has equipped them in the importance of data and how to compiled accurate and reliable data which will aid in the implementation of plans.
