The Right to Information Commission in collaboration with the Ahafo Ano South West District Assembly on Friday September 9, 2024 organized a sensitization program for the staff of the Assembly to understand the Law and also educated them on what the law entails as well as the rights and obligations of the citizens as far as the Law is concerned.
The facilitators took staff through the RTI law, which gives opportunity to test genuine institutions in the country for transparency and accountability.
The facilitator noted that, some institutions have been fined for refusing to provide information that the law allows.
The sensitization was to strengthen the awareness of the implementation of the RTI Law, reflect on the challenges associated with it, and support their mobilization to influence its effective implementation to promote access to public information for public use in holding public officials to account.
