The Cultural Education Unit of the Ahafo Ano South West District Education Directorate in the Ashanti Region has organised a cultural festival for ten (10) Circuits, inviting students to exhibit their talent.

The festival held at Domeabra D/A Basic School park with the theme, "Cultural Education, Empowering Our Youth, Preserving Our Culture", brought all ten circuits in the District together.

Mr Frederick Mensah Agyei, the Cultural Coordinator for Ahafo Ano South West District Education Directorate, said parents should be able to look out for specific talents in their wards to help them choose a career path based on their talents. He also advised teachers to mentor students who exhibit talent in the arts and culture.

Mr Justin Kwesi Gbortor, the Ahafo Ano South West District Director of Education, urged charitable organisations and corporate institutions to aid the District in organising more cultural activities to help revive the Ghanaian culture and instil the Ghanaian traditions in the students. He cited the difficulty faced by the Directorate in providing logistics to the Cultural Education Unit. He attributed the challenge to the lack of funding sources.

Hon Prince Oppong, the Presiding Member of Ahafo Ano South West District Assembly, who represented the District Chief Executive, Hon Abubakar Sedik, called on everyone to help promote Ghanaian Cultural values and embrace cultural education.

"When resources are channelled into cultural activities, it will promote Ghana's economy in the tourism sector which will go a long way to reduce poverty ", he said.

The District Chief Executive, Hon Abubakar Sedik, the Member of Parliament, Hon Elvis Osei Mensah Dapaah and the Ahafo Ano South West District Assembly all pledged an amount of GHc2,000.00 to support the programme.

The Inter-Circuit Cultural Festival has been in existence for a long time, but went on break due to the COVID-19 pandemic, and resumed in 2023, which was held at Kunsu.

This is the selection stage for the Inter-District cultural competition, which will begin on July 1, 202,5 at Tepa in the Ahafo Ano North District of the Ashanti Region.

In 2023, the Ahafo Ano South West District won the ultimate award in the dance category at the Inter-District competition held in Kumasi.
