Hon. Abubakar Sedik, the Ahafo Ano South West District Chief Executive, has encouraged beneficiaries of Livelihood Employment Against Poverty (LEAP) to take advantage of the bi-monthly grants to be economically independent.
"The grants of the LEAP programme should help you start petty businesses that will aid you in being economically independent" he advised.
The DCE made this statement when the Social Welfare and Community Development department of the Assembly and Ahafo Ano Premier Rural Bank PLC made payments to the beneficiaries at Barniekrom.
He said that when the beneficiaries commit the grants to petty businesses, it will improve their livelihood and that of their dependents.
This, he said, would pave the way for the expansion and extension of the programme to other communities in the District, as the Ghana National Household Registry (GNHR) is already embarking on a household registration exercise.
