Ahafo Ano South West DCE Pays Courtesy Call on Otumfuo Hiahene

The District Chief Executive (DCE) for Ahafo Ano South West, Hon. Abubakar Sedik has paid a courtesy call on Otumfuo Hiahene, Nana Prof. Oheneba Boachie-Adjei Woahene II, as part of efforts to strengthen collaboration between the District Assembly and traditional authorities for the development of the area. .

The visit, which took place at the Hiahene’s palace in Kumasi, provided an opportunity for the DCE to formally introduce himself, share the government’s development agenda for the district, his vision and also seek the wisdom and support of Oheneba Hiahene in the implementation of projects and policies in the district. .

In his remarks, Hon. Abubakar Sedik expressed gratitude to Hiahene for his continuous guidance and contributions toward peace and progress in the district. He assured Hiahene of government’s commitment to improve infrastructure, education, healthcare, agriculture and responsible mining in the Ahafo Ano South West District. .

"Development can only thrive in an atmosphere of unity and cooperation," he added. .

Nana Prof. Oheneba Boachie-Adjei Woahene II, on his part, warmly welcomed the DCE and commended him for recognising the role of traditional leadership in governance. He pledged his support to the development of the District, emphasising the need for collaboration to address challenges facing the youth, including unemployment and a lack of skills training opportunities. .

"Liaise with the traditional authorities for the eradication of illegal mining (galamsey) and promote responsible mining which will give opportunities to the youth to get employment", he said. .

The meeting also touched on the importance of reclaiming abandoned mined lands and enhancing security in the district. .

The visit ended with mutual assurances of cooperation between the District and the office of Nana Prof. Oheneba Boachie-Adjei Woahene II, aimed at advancing the welfare of the people of Ahafo Ano South West. .
