The District Disaster Management Committee of the Ahafo Ano South West District was inaugurated on Wednesday, 24th September 2025, at the Conference room of the Assembly in Mankranso. The inaugural ceremony was chaired by the Ashanti Regional Deputy Director of NADMO, Mr Muntala Musah.

He gave an inaugural address after the meeting had been called to order and the introduction of members had been done by the District Coordinating Director, Mr Paul Atsu Agbezudor. Mr Muntala Musah talked about the enactment and purpose of the committee and the need for its member institutions to work collaboratively to prevent and manage disasters within the District. .

The Ahafo Ano South West District Director of NADMO, Mr Gariba Jibriel Mohammed, also talked about the core mandate of the organisation (NADMO) being the education and sensitisation of people to prevent and manage disasters. He further indicated some challenges of the NADMO District office in executing its core mandates, some of which are the lack of vehicles and motorbikes for public education and assessment programs. .

The District Coordinating Director, Mr Paul Atsu Agbezudor, also talked about some hazards and hotspots of disaster in the District. He urged the committee to work collaboratively to ensure effective management and prevention of disasters. .

Various submissions on Disaster prevention were made by members present. .
