In a bid to boost agricultural production and improve livelihoods, the District Chief Executive (DCE) for Ahafo Ano South West, Hon. Abubakar Sedik, in collaboration with the Ministry of Food and Agriculture, has distributed 15,000 oil palm seedlings to farmers across the district.

The exercise, which took place on Friday, September 26, 2025, at the forecourt of the Department of Agriculture, forms part of the government’s broader agenda to promote cash crop cultivation and ensure sustainable income sources for farmers.

Addressing the beneficiaries, Hon. Sedik reaffirmed the government’s commitment to supporting farmers with modern agricultural inputs, improved seedlings, and technical assistance to increase yields and enhance food security.

“This initiative is not only about empowering our hardworking farmers but also about securing the future of our district’s economy through agribusiness. We believe oil palm cultivation will create jobs, provide raw materials for industry, and help reduce poverty in our communities,” he stated.

Beneficiary farmers expressed their gratitude to the government and the DCE for the timely support, noting that the intervention would significantly improve their livelihoods and boost the local economy.

The distribution of 15,000 seedlings adds to several other agricultural initiatives being rolled out under the John Dramani Mahama government.
