DCE and MP Unite through District Sanitation Exercise at Wioso and Hwibaa

In a remarkable show of unity, the District Chief Executive (DCE) for Ahafo Ano South West, Hon. Abubakar Sedik, and the Member of Parliament for the area, Hon. Elvis Osei Mensah Dapaah, jointly participated in the District Sanitation Day exercise at Wioso and Hwibaa on Tuesday, October 14, 2025.

The exercise, which formed part of efforts to promote cleanliness and community health, brought together residents, Assembly Members, Chiefs and staff of the District Assembly. The event marked the first time in months that the two leaders were seen publicly working together after concerns about political differences between their offices. .

Their renewed cooperation follows advice from the Parliamentary Committee on Local Government and Rural Development, which urged them to set aside their differences and collaborate for the District's progress. .

Residents expressed joy at the gesture, describing it as a sign of hope and development for Ahafo Ano South West. Many were seen cheering as the two leaders took part in sweeping, weeding, desilting gutters and clearing refuse. .

In their separate speeches, both Hon. Sedik and Hon. Dapaah emphasised the importance of unity and collective responsibility in driving development. They also urged community members to continue cleaning their surroundings regularly, even when government officials are not around, stressing that good sanitation begins with individual and communal effort. .

They pledged to continue working together to improve sanitation, infrastructure, and social services in the District. .

The joint exercise concluded with a renewed sense of togetherness among residents, who commended their leaders for demonstrating true leadership through their actions.
