The Ahafo Ano South West District Assembly on Monday, January 19, 2026, officially handed over several project sites to contractors to commence construction of key development projects across the District.
\r\nThe exercise was led by the District Chief Executive (DCE), Hon. Abubakar Sedik, who reiterated his commitment to ensuring quality work and timely completion of all projects. He assured stakeholders that he would not remain confined to his office but would personally visit project sites regularly to monitor progress.
\r\nHon. Abubakar Sedik further charged the contractors to prioritise the employment of local people during the construction period, noting that such an approach would help create jobs and boost the local economy.
\r\nIn response, all the contractors present assured the DCE of their readiness to execute the projects according to specifications and complete them within the stipulated five-month contract duration.
\r\nThe projects include the construction of 2No. 8-seater institutional latrines at Afresini D/A Primary and JHS, Kunsu R/C Primary and JHS ‘B’, Barniekrom D/A Primary and JHS and Wioso D/A Primary School.
\r\nOther projects include the construction of a 10-seater water closet toilet at Mankranso, drilling and construction of 1No. Mechanized borehole at Adiembra and Mankranso and the drilling and construction of 3No. boreholes with hand pumps at Oseikrom near Asuokor and Adiembra. A CHPS Compound at Afresini is also part of the projects to be executed.
\r\nHeadteachers of the beneficiary schools expressed their appreciation to the District Assembly and government, describing the projects as timely interventions that will improve sanitation, access to potable water and healthcare delivery in their communities.
\r\nSome of the contractors undertaking the projects include Perfect Favour Enterprise, A.A. Yiadom Company Limited, Prudent Link Company Limited and Kwame Anane Company Limited.
\r\nThe DCE was accompanied by key District officials, including Paul Atsu Agbezudor, District Coordinating Director; Williams Opoku Agyemang and Emmanuel Smart Amo, Information Officers, Kojo Korankye from the Education Directorate, James Korkor from the Works Department, Dorothy Akosua Asamoah, District Budget Analyst, Nelly S. Ofosu from the Procurement Unit, Marian Annan Afful from the Planning Unit, Frank Opoku from the Environmental Health Unit, Seth Kwadwo of the Physical Planning Unit and Samson Mahama from the Department of Social Welfare and Community Development.
\r\nThe Assembly Members for the various electoral areas visited were also present. Hon. Prince Oppong (Wioso Krofofrom), Hon. Atsu Akpalu (Kunsu Ayinase) and Hon. Kingsley Asare (Barniekrom).
\r\nMembers of the media were also present to observe and document the event.
\r\nThe projects, when completed, are expected to significantly enhance sanitation, water supply, healthcare access and educational infrastructure across the Ahafo Ano South West District.
