The Ahafo Ano South West District Assembly, led by the District Chief Executive (DCE), Hon. Abubakar Sedik, organized a comprehensive District Sanitation Day on Tuesday, March 3, 2026, at Mankranso. The exercise forms part of the activities ahead of Ghana’s 69th Independence Day celebration.
\r\nResidents from various communities, assembly members, departmental staff, traditional leaders and political authorities joined forces in the clean-up effort aimed at promoting environmental sanitation and preparing the District for the national celebration.
\r\nAddressing the participants, Hon. Abubakar Sedik emphasized the importance of cleanliness in promoting public health. He urged residents to sustain the gains of the exercise beyond symbolic events, reminding them that environmental sanitation is key to preventing disease outbreaks and boosting local development.
\r\n“We must see sanitation not only as an obligation during national festivities but as a daily way of life,” the DCE stated, lauding the turnout and community enthusiasm.
\r\nThe clean-up exercise saw volunteers clearing refuse from drains and public spaces across Mankranso. Piles of waste were collected and properly disposed of.
\r\nSeveral community representatives expressed their appreciation to Hon Abubakar Sedik for mobilizing and fostering unity of purpose.
\r\n“Today’s exercise shows that when we work together, our town looks better, our mood becomes better, and our health is protected,” noted one participant.
\r\nThe District Sanitation Day reflects the Assembly’s commitment to environmental stewardship and readiness as the nation marks its 69th year of independence.
