Residents of Mankranso Zongo (Teak Akyi) in the Ahafo Ano South West District have received a major boost in access to safe drinking water following the commissioning and handover of a new borehole with a hand pump by Ahafo Ano Premier Community Bank as part of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programme.

The project aims to improve access to potable water, enhance public health, and support the socio-economic development of the community.

Speaking at the commissioning ceremony, the District Chief Executive (DCE) for Ahafo Ano South West, Hon. Abubakar Sedik, expressed profound appreciation to the management of Ahafo Ano Premier Community Bank for partnering with the District Assembly to improve the living conditions of residents through the provision of safe drinking water.

He commended the Bank for demonstrating its commitment to community development through meaningful investments that directly impact the lives of the people.

Hon. Sedik noted that the newly commissioned borehole would significantly augment the Assembly's efforts to provide safe and reliable drinking water across the District. He disclosed that the Assembly constructed six boreholes in selected communities in 2025 and indicated that plans are underway to provide additional boreholes this year, stressing that access to clean and potable water remains one of the Assembly's key development priorities.

He further encouraged other corporate institutions, development partners, and philanthropists to emulate the example of Ahafo Ano Premier Community Bank by supporting development initiatives that improve the quality of life of the people.

The Chief Executive Officer of Ahafo Ano Premier Community Bank, Mr Ernest Dankwa, stated that the Bank's mission extends beyond generating profits to making meaningful contributions to the development and well-being of the communities it serves.

He explained that the borehole project forms part of the Bank's Corporate Social Responsibility initiatives and reflects its commitment to addressing critical societal needs.

According to him, the Bank's interventions are guided by the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly those aimed at ensuring access to clean water, promoting good health, and fostering sustainable community development.

Mr Dankwa urged the beneficiary community to take good care of the facility by ensuring regular maintenance and protecting it from misuse so that it would continue to serve both present and future generations.

Also speaking at the event, the Akwamuhene of the Mankranso Traditional Area, Nana Adu Pako, expressed his heartfelt appreciation to Ahafo Ano Premier Community Bank for the timely intervention and commended the institution for its commitment to community development.

He urged residents of Mankranso Zongo (Teak Akyi) to use the borehole responsibly and ensure its proper maintenance.

Nana Adu Pako further disclosed that the traditional authorities would engage the community to develop a sustainable maintenance plan to preserve the facility and guarantee its long-term usefulness.

The Assembly Member for the Mankranso–Betuom Electoral Area, Hon. Paul Conscious Amagboe, also expressed profound appreciation to the Bank for the intervention, describing the project as a significant relief to the community.

He assured the Bank that the community would take ownership of the facility and ensure its proper maintenance to guarantee its sustainability.

He pledged to work closely with the traditional authorities and residents to protect the project so that it would continue to serve generations to come.

The commissioning of the borehole underscores the importance of collaboration between local government and corporate institutions in delivering essential social amenities and improving the living standards of communities across the Ahafo Ano South West District.
