Residents of Boatengkrom in the Ahafo Ano South West District have received renewed hope following the sod-cutting ceremony for the construction of a 16-seater squat toilet facility, which aims to address the community's long-standing sanitation challenge.

The project is being jointly funded by the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Constituency Chairman, Mr Koo Broni, and the District Chief Executive (DCE) for Ahafo Ano South West, Hon. Abubakar Sedik, with additional support from the Kunsuhene, Nana Dr Agyemang Badu Duah I.

Speaking at the ceremony, Hon. Abubakar Sedik recalled that during the 2024 election campaign, residents identified the lack of a public toilet as one of their most pressing challenges. He noted that the commencement of the project demonstrates the commitment of the NDC government and its local leadership to fulfilling promises made to the people.

The DCE assured the community that the toilet project would not be the only development intervention for Boatengkrom. He announced that the Ahafo Ano South West District Assembly would soon commence the construction of a Community-based Health Planning and Services (CHPS) Compound to improve access to healthcare.

He further disclosed that the Assembly would also construct a borehole to provide the community with a reliable source of potable drinking water.

For his part, the NDC Constituency Chairman, Koo Broni, reaffirmed his commitment to supporting community development initiatives across the constituency.

While expressing appreciation to residents for their continuous support to the NDC, he appealed to the government to prioritise the tarring of the road linking Kunsu to Abasua, stressing that a good road network would boost economic activities and improve access to essential services for communities along the stretch.

On behalf of the traditional leadership and residents, the Gyasehene of Boatengkrom, Nana Kweku Dwomo, expressed profound gratitude to Hon. Abubakar Sedik, Koo Broni, the NDC Constituency Executives, and all stakeholders for responding to the community's sanitation needs.

He described the toilet project as a major milestone for Boatengkrom and appealed to the government to also rehabilitate the community's road network, thereby enhancing transportation and accelerating development.

The ceremony was attended by traditional leaders, NDC Constituency and Branch Executives, community members, and other dignitaries, all of whom expressed optimism that the project would significantly improve sanitation and public health in Boatengkrom.
