Government cuts sod for the construction of STEM facility at Mpasaaso No2

Nana Ampofo Twumasi III (Chief of Mpaasaso No2) and Hon Joseph Frimpong Bonsu (DCE, Ahafo Ano South West District Assembly) on Wednesday November 1, 2023 cut sod for the construction of a Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) facility at Mpasaaso No2 in the Ahafo Ano South West District of the Ashanti Region.

The facility is expected to help churn out more engineering graduates in the country.

The facility which is expected to be completed within a space of 6 months, will have a 1-storey classroom block with ancillary facilities and external works.

At the sod-cutting ceremony, Nana Ampofo Twumasi  III said, the facility would to a large extent, produce engineers in the Ahafo Ano South West District to support the socio-economic development of the country.

He asked the contractor to do a good job and complete the project within the time frame he has been given. Nana further told the gathering that development is a shared responsibility so all should come on board for the development of the country.

The District Chief Executive for Ahafo Ano South West District Assembly, Hon. Joseph Frimpong Bonsu was optimistic that, the facility will help STEM education in the District. He asked the people of Mpaasaso No2 to support the contractor in any form to complete the facility on time. He further asked parents to support their wards when they see the talent in them.

He said STEM education now includes the fusion of advances in artificial intelligence, robotics, 3D printing, genetic engineering, quantum computing, and other technologies.

Nana Osei Akoto of EMB Ventures Limited assured the gathering that he will deliver on time and hand over the project to the Education Ministry.

In attendance were; Hon Joseph Frimpong Bonsu, DCE, Ahafo Ano South West District Assembly, Paul Atsu Agebezudor, DCD, Ahafo Ano South West District Assembly, Alexander Kello, Works Engineer, the Feeder Roads engineer, Patrick Afriyie, Deputy PRO, Ministry of Education, Hon. Sylvester Owusu, Works sub-committee convener, Hon. Charles K. Asare, Assembly Member for Mpaasaso No2 electoral area, Nana Ampofo Twumasi III, Chief of Mpaasaso No2, Nana Boakye Yiadom, Chief of Adiembra and Elders of Mpaasaso No2.

Other Dignitaries were NPP Constituency Executives, some staff of the Education District Education Directorate and the District Assembly, the staff of the contractor and the consultant.
