Report On 1st General Assembly Of Ahafo Ano South West District Assembly

The Ahafo Ano South West District Assembly (AASWDA) held its first Ordinary Meeting of the year on the  26th April 2024 at the District Assembly Hall, Mankranso. This ordinary meeting was held with its newly appointed Presiding Member (PM), Hon. Prince Oppong, Assembly Member for Wioso, to gather with his fellow Assembly Memberss for issues confronting the district and how best to resolve them.

Issues discussed among members of the house were deteriorating road networks and school buildings, lack of electricity supply, lack of water supply in some communities, illegal cutting of trees, slaughter slab purchase for farm animals slaughtered for trading purposes, communal labor, and renovation of public washrooms. The District Coordinating Director (DCD), Mr. Paul Atsu Agbezudor responded to all the matters that arose from the house and assured them of awarded contractors who would attend to them as soon as possible.

The District Chief Executive (DCE)’s sessional address highlighted the achievements of the District since 2023, in the health, agriculture, and educational sectors, the social welfare unit, communal labor activities, economic development, infrastructure, and environmental management.

Citations were awarded to some hard-working and dedicated stakeholders of the district; they are the outgone District Health Director (DHD), Mr. Reuben Bedzrah; Chief of Kunsu, Nana Agyemang Duah; former PM, Hon. Eric Agyekum, Mrs. Beatrice Nyamekye the founder of Women’s Health to Wealth NGO; Aspiring NPP Member of Parliament (MP) for Ahafo Ano South West Constituency, Hon. Elvis Osei Dapaah; Assembly Member for Betoom, Hon. Paul Lloyd Amegboe, and District Works Engineer, Mr. Alexander Kello.

The meeting was graced by Ghanaian local actor and wife of Kunsu Chief, Mrs. Mercy Asiedu Agyemang who took a citation on behalf of her husband and assured the house of her devotion to her husband and the district as a whole.
